Vane Kosturanov was born and raised in Strumica, Macedonia. He is a self-taught painter and illustrator. His works explore both worlds in which he exists - the conscious and the unconscious parts, the inner and the outside world. These seemingly distant worlds collide in his paintings and it’s hard to say where the one begins and the other ends. Besides his paintings, Vane is an awarded children’s books illustrator and author of three picture books: “Star child” (2018), “Girl and bear” (2019) and “The girl and the city” (2020). His book “Girl and bear” was selected as one of the best 200 children’s books in the world for 2019, and is listed in the White Ravens catalog, issued by the Internationale Jugendbibliothek in München. His books have been translated into: Croatian, Serbian, Korean, Italian, Slovenian, German, Turkish, and Portuguese. He has illustrated many books by different authors and his illustrations are featured on book covers by various publishers in Macedonia and abroad. Vane’s paintings and illustrations have been exhibited in galleries in Macedonia and various European countries. His works are included in private and public collections in Europe, the US and the UK.
